The Location
The property is situated in the mountain village of Orne, which is 12kms from Agia Galini on the south coast and 49kms from Rethymnon on the north coast. There is a new tarmac road to the village.
This area is one of the remaining unspoiled areas of Crete.
The village of Orne itself is at the foot of the Kedros mountains and is surrounded by lush green valleys. From both terraces of the garden there are wonderful views of the village of Malambes and the surrounding countryside.
It's a perfect site for hillwalking - Crete's highest mountain, Psiloritis (2456m) dominates the view; painting and exploring the ancient sites of Crete. There are many interesting local arts and crafts, including an amazing glass-blower.
